Project 1 Reflection
Reflection:
Overall, the project was a failure as I missed the deadline
for both the research and practical aspects of the projects as well as
only being able to complete half the project, so I need to improve on this for
any future projects
So, what went well. For the most part, I would say the research
element of the project was my best part as I was able to find multiple sources
relating to the subject of Disabilities in games and was able to take that
information to create a basic plan for what I wanted to create.
With the research, I was able to find out that my original idea
was correct in that for the most part there is a lack of representation in games,
but it was also disproven in that there is a small increase in representation and
good representation as well with the one that comes to mind now being Max Hass
from the Wolfenstein games.
What I still found surprising with my research was that
considering that most games now include accessibility features to ease players,
a lot of disabled gamers still have struggles accessing games for numerous
reasons which led to the practical element of trying to create Visual VFX, so
the player has a understanding of what was happening.
The main thing I took away from this project was Time management
needs to be improved but also that considering all the steps for representation
and accessibility there is still a while to go for inclusivity of disabled
people.
